THE HEALING ART OF KINGA OGIEGLO

ABOUT KINGA OGIEGLO

Kinga Ogieglo is a young Polish artist, born in Oświęcim. As a child, she went to music school where she undertook a lot of singing – an activity she will bring up to her adult life. At a certain point in her life, while she was working at “soul-destroying” and mundane jobs (as she describes them), Kinga decided she needed a life change. It didn’t take her too long to realize how she could fulfill her aim by doing something creative and art-related for a living. In 2014 she bought her first canvas, and as for today, she counts 600 artworks, affirming with joy how she is finally doing what she deeply loves. “Although the journey wasn’t easy, and despite great family support, there were also harsh experiences I had do go through. But today, I think it was all worth it.”

In 2017 she started her art business, which core is to explore the transformational process that the artistic approach leads to. What Kinga truly believes is that feelings such as anger, fear, and sadness may be turned into healed emotions to become motivational and life-changing experiences finally. What pushes Kinga to deepen this sort of therapeutic art-process is the desire for self-expression that she always felt since her childhood when experiencing emotional blocks. “I now compensate that lack of emotional expression by creating art. I guess I also want to help people channel their pain on canvas to make their healing journey quicker.”

ABOUT HER TECHNIQUE

Throughout the years her works have changed into joyful compared to the darker first ones in which she expressed and explored her anger and fears.

Her technique is mostly based upon acrylic on canvas to create abstract paintings with a style that could be defined as expressionist – as people often compare her artworks to Gerhard Richter or Helen Frankentalter ones. Kinga mostly paints with a thick brush, a square ruler, and sometimes her fingers to manually achieve a natural effect.

Much inspired by Jason Cianelli’s large scale energetic abstract works, Kinga tells us how he was the first artist she looked at that would ideally influence her to grab a brush, for how she sees in his works a strong spiritual charge. Besides painting, Kinga also feels attracted to fashion and design, films, learning new languages, and talking to people. Communicating is a topic attributable to her hope of helping people to understand the impact of their emotions on their behavior.

This current year in July, Kinga will hold a big solo exhibition in her hometown of Oświęcim in Poland. It is the right way of growing her wish of divulging her activity of a therapeutical approach to art. She also plans to develop her fashion and design skills for the future. Waiting for news from her, let’s stay tuned and follow Kinga here.
